My Project
I teach two preschool classrooms with 17 children in each class. The children range in age from 3-5 years old. Many of my children have special needs. One of the major focus areas in my classrooms is teaching social-emotional skills. I also focus on the many cultures of my students. In order to promote social-emotional skills and diversity, I am requesting the materials the children are familiar such as the food they eat at home. This is why I am requesting cultural foods to include in my house area. I would also like a large dollhouse and fire station so children can work together and use their pretend play skills. These toys promote critical thinking skills and promote the use of teamwork. Children come to me from a variety of backgrounds and I want to celebrate and embrace this. I am also asking for these materials so my students can practice important life-long skills. Thank you for looking at my project!
