Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, creative, and motivated. They love science, animals, and coloring. They have different learning needs and styles. My students benefit from hands on activities and strategies to keep organized.
Interactive notebooks will help my students keep their notes and thoughts together in one place.
My students are in desperate need of organizational strategies. They need supplies and supports to keep their materials, notes, and supplies organized. Many of my students live below the poverty line and do not have access to the materials they need at the beginning of the school year, such as binders, notebooks, markers, and glue.
My Project
My goal for the upcoming school year is for my students, and therefore my classroom, to stay organized. However, many students do not have the means necessary to get their own supplies - they were not able to purchase their own folders, notebooks, or coloring supplies.
One way I plan to keep us organized is by using interactive notebooks.
Each student will have a composition notebook for reading and writing. They will cut out colorful anchor charts to glue into the notebook, along with writing journal responses and vocabulary terms. All of their work will stay in one place. Another organization strategy will be to use individual dry erase boards for math work instead of scrap paper.
