Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from the outskirts of a larger city. We are a community within a city and it makes for a much more close-knit school. Our school is host to mostly rural students with more than 50% as free and reduced-price lunch recipients.
My kindergarten students are unpredictable and keep me on my toes, which is exactly what gets me up and in my classroom every morning.
Kindergarten is fun because as a teacher, I see all the personalities come from home and get a good sense of what the school climate will be in the coming years. Kindergarten is where change happens, minds grow and kids transform into students. I truly love these future leaders and community changers.
My Project
My students this year have presented me with numerous challenges. From academic to social to physical to behavioral needs my students are an amazing mix of different abilities this year.
As a teacher, my greatest goal is to teach ALL children and I am asking for a few new skills to add to my current collection.
I have found great success in challenging some of my students with STEAM activities each Friday and want to add to my collection some new activities. I have several students struggling to obtain and maintain new knowledge this year and really need new tools to help these struggling few. I have several students with disabilities that have made amazing growth this year but could use even more in social skills. While this collection of books may seem like a rainbow they are a true representation of my classroom. Each will help me develop beyond my current skill set and help my children be the best they can be.
