Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you know the feeling of getting excited when you find a book you really like? My students have never experienced that feeling yet.
My students are a part of a special day class I teach, and are faced with the challenge of having a learning handicap everyday.
They learn differently and at a slower pace than their general education peers. Most of my students do not know how to read, which makes school very difficult for them.
My Project
The learning handicaps my students are challenged with, makes learning difficult for them. They learn differently so they need a variety of hands on materials that are fun and interesting for them to help them learn. The materials I am requesting, will do just that. I have requested materials that can be used as centers such as the Contraction Instant Learning Center, the Sight Words Instant Learning Center, and the Building Words Instant Learning Center. I have also requested letter stamps, stamp pads and snap-together letter blocks so my students can practice building words. These games and materials will give my students the extra practice they need, in the different levels they need, in a fun way.
My goal as a teacher is to teach my students as much as I can.
I would like to help my students progress as readers and I believe that by having a variety of teaching materials can help me do that. Because my students have a harder time learning, they do not have the motivation to learn. My students need to be presented with new and exciting materials to keep them from getting bored and I think these resources can help me keep their attention. Please help me help them.
