This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I School in North Carolina and many of my students are at-risk for academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials, much more than the final products of their experiments. Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances. My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
My Project
I am a National Board Professional Teaching Candidate. I have been working for over a year to complete this goal for my students and I. This boot camp will help me to work on the four components, with trained NCAE NBCTs Coaches. They have a wide swath of expertise available, so I can bounce ideas off of them and have them give me written critiques. The National Board Boot Camp provides a quiet working space, including wireless internet and access to printers and copiers for candidates needing to simply have uninterrupted time for focused work. Also, the boot camp offers support sessions on topics such as understanding standards, and unpacking components of National Board Certification.
