This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I’m a school social worker at a K-5 elementary school. It’s my job and my passion to provide SEL instruction to all students. I provide classroom instruction, one-on-one and small therapy groups. There is power in stories and so therefore I like to use storybooks to help reinforce important SEL skills.

My Project

I use literature when providing social emotional learning. Authors take complex topics and make them accessible to children. This wonderful book takes a tough subject such as bullying and injects humor. Words have power. Literature can have a profound impact on children. Helping children to stop bullying and learn how to cope with it, will help guide them towards becoming successful adult human beings. I've had wide success so far with fun and engaging stories. Students are more engaged when they are having fun. Thank you very much for your consideration.
