Our classroom is extremely special. The room itself is a rectangle shape and has typical classroom features such as two cinder block walls, tall fluorescent lighting, a kidney-shaped table ready for daily small group discussions, a freshly painted wall - hand selected by a first-year teacher eager to create that perfect space for our new family of learners, and a strew of well-loved classroom furniture hugging just about every inch of available wall space.
The thing about it is though - those features aren't what make our classroom special.
It's the six and seven-year-old bodies that fill the 23 desks each morning, with the biggest smiles and even bigger hearts! It's the stories that are shared during our daily morning meetings and the connections that these students already have to the world around them. It's the love that we share for our classroom learning family that we have built since that first day in August and the embrace that these sweet students have for each other. It's the DREAMS that these leaders show up with every single day.
Their dreams inspire me to create THE most authentic, memorable, and engaging first-grade learning experience possible!
My Project
The magic that happens when a teacher is truly able to connect to and engage their students in their growth and learning is what feeds my passion to become the best teacher for kids! I am dedicated to providing rigorous, exciting, and engaging learning experiences to challenge-seeking students!
As a first year teacher, I truly believe that the strategies, knowledge, and inspiration from the eminent presenters at the "Get Your Teach On" conference will shape my life-long career as an educator!
As a learning family this year, we have transformed our classroom into a pizza parlor, full of success-hungry restaurant owners and renowned chefs! Not long after, this same classroom housed a staff of trusted and well-trained doctors and surgeons ready to take on serious challenges. The future is in front of my eyes each and every day, and I am motivated now more than ever to provide rich experiences to shape and impact student's learning morale for life!
