Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is made up of 26 energetic third graders who are always looking for a challenge.
My group of students is very diverse with a wide range of abilities, skills, backgrounds, and needs.
They enter the classroom each day and pass a sign that reminds them that they are important and loved. My students are met with struggles many of us would never think of and they need an environment that is safe, accepting, loving, and dynamic. I'm hoping that by continuing my education to bring them the best new strategies, lessons, and tips from some of the top educators in the country.
My Project
I am requesting help with getting funding for a teaching conference I've had my eye on for quite some time. Unfortunately, our school has very little funding for conferences and are unable to cover any of it.
As explained by the founders of the conference,
"Need a teacher pick-me-up? Looking for some of the most current research based strategies that will light your classroom on fire? Get Your Teach On – a one-of-a-kind experience for K-8 teachers. You will spend a day with Team Get Your Teach On as they share their passion and enthusiasm for education and give you their tips, tricks, best practices, and teacher secrets to building a successful, engaging, & RIGOROUS classroom. You will leave feeling empowered, motivated, and prepared to create dynamic lessons that will challenge your students and leave them hungry for more."
I am looking to attend this conference to help reignite that fire that I felt when I first fell in love with teaching. From others that I know who have attended, this professional development brings tons of fresh new strategies, a lot of positivity, and empowers you to help bring excitement and fun back into the classroom through learning.
This conference has workshops for: making math more than just a worksheet, creating positive classroom communities, integrating subjects, art, making Social Studies important again, and new reading strategies. I think these workshops will bring a new wave of life into my classroom and I will be able to share this knowledge with my coworkers and my students.
