Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am absolutely blessed and lucky to work with these diverse and unique students every day. My students truly love to learn. Their eagerness and thirst for knowledge inspire me. It makes me want to push my boundaries, get creative, and become a better teacher for them. I never want the school to be monotonous or boring to them. Instead, I want to help develop a creative, engaging fun learning environment for my students to flourish into thoughtful mathematicians.
Children should love the time they spend at school.
I spend a lot of time creating lessons that are fun, engaging and relevant to my students. I want to change the stigma math classrooms have. Math has a reputation for being boring, stiff and rigid. I want to break the mold of math classrooms! I want to sing, dance, play games, and use relevant topics to engage the next generation! Math is about puzzles and problem solving - not memorizing or mindlessly following steps. My hope is to grow number sense and math reasoning by engaging my students by any means necessary!
My Project
It has been a dream of mine as an educator to attend the Get Your Teach On Conference. This conference will allow me to grow professionally in many ways. First, this conference offers a wide variety of break out sessions that will inspire and spark creativity! This will help me find new ways to engage my students! This conference will present researched based strategies that can be incorporated into K-5 classrooms to reach all learners through interactive and engaging full-day trainings. Educators will be able to share endless ideas of how to better reach students through interactive mini sessions and hands-on learning opportunities during the four days. I will be able to walk away from the conference with new strategies to share will my school and colleagues.
Get Your Teach On will allow me to connect with some of the top educators across the country.
I will be able to learn best practices, strategies, and techniques to transform my classroom. As a math teacher, I appreciate that there are sessions with a strong focus on math and math manipulatives. This will help me grow in teaching and learn new ways to present difficult concepts in engaging ways. As a teacher, I am a lifelong learner who is eager for an opportunity to meet other educators and learn from them.
