My students need a variety of STEM materials (science, technology, engineering, and math) to foster problem-solving through imaginative play. Young architects will expand their engineering and spatial awareness with 3-dimensional and magnetic building tools.
I teach at a beautiful school in southern Maine. One of the exciting things about my school is that it is a true "community school" located right in the center of downtown. Many children and families walk to the school. The population is a mix of various socio-economic classes and also caters to a population of military families.
Kindergarten is an exciting time of discovery and celebration - full of learning and growing.
My classroom is full of readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and artists! One of my favorite parts of kindergarten is the joy that these youngsters bring to learning. Each new day is a discovery! I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything!
My Project
To ensure success in the fast-moving and technologically advanced society of today, creative problem solving and critical thinking must be fostered in young children.
Purposeful and imaginative play, as well as a hands-on, free exploration experience, will guide young children in the way they learn best!
Through the use of 3-dimensional and magnetic building materials, children will work cooperatively to solve engineering tasks. Materials such as the See-Inside Magnetic Blocks, the 3-D Magnetic Builders, and the Bamboo Building Blocks will encourage creativity and provide opportunities for children to explore concepts such as light and shadows, magnetism, forces in motion, engineering, and geometry. The STEM materials will enhance this learning!
