Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a new teacher in the Bronx, New York, who teaches children with autism. My students are between the ages of nine and eleven. They range in ability and each of them are so different. One thing my students have in common is trouble with their self help skills. I have been trying to teach my students how to tie their shoes, button and zipper their clothing, and lace their sneakers. It has been very difficult but some of them are improving. Dexterity boards would be so helpful for my students. Unfortunately, resources in our school are very scarce and we lack many of the tools needed for our students. Most of the handmade things I have made are now falling apart or are not useful any longer. The use of fine motor tools would be helpful and beneficial for my students. Thank you.
