Hooray! This project is fully funded

This is my first year teaching at the Children's Workshop School. As I was setting up my room this year, I was surprised and saddened to see that my classroom library is virtually non-existent. This is due to the fact that my 5/6 class is a new class this year. Two current class libraries are being made into three libraries. As a result, there are less options in each classroom. You can help me to create a library that offers students options that are exciting, informative, funny, and interesting at different reading levels. After teaching 5th and 6th grades for the past three years, I have figured out what books and authors really excite my students. I want my students to joyfully devour the books that my students have loved in the past and discover some great new authors. I am distraught that I don't see the kids' favorite authors lining the shelves. I know that all of the readers in the class will benefit if they have the option of reading the words of: Louis Sacchar, Jerry Spinelli, Walter Dean Myers, Gary Soto, Karen Hesse, J. K. Rowling, Lemony Snicket, Shel Silverstein, R.L. Stine, Matt Christopher, Anne Mazer, David Shannon, Patricia Polacco, Mildred D. Taylor, Sharon Creech, Lois Lowry, Pam Munoz Ryan, Ann Brashares, Meg Cabot, Avi, Madeleine L'Engle, Eoin Colfer, C.S. Lewis, Ann M. Martin, E. L. Konigsburg, Cynthia Rylant, Paul Fleischman, Katherine Paterson, Christopher Paul Curtis, Jack Prelutsky, Eloise Greenfield, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Langston Hughes, Kate Dicamillo and Angela Johnson. The books by the authors above will give students enticing books to read at his/her reading level in various genres including poetry, multicultural literature, series, fantasy, humor, and realistic fiction. I want to expose the students to as many genres, author styles and subjects as possible. You can help me provide the students with amazing books and authors who are exemplify incredible writing. Throughout the year each student reads 25-30 books. The students will participate in book clubs where they will study authors, genres, and themes. I will use these texts to give students examples of interesting and creative writing and teach the students how to write book reviews which they will present in oral or written form. With an extensive and exciting library, you will give students more options and help to make them excited to read. Please help me create an inviting, stimulating library so that my students can enjoy reading each and every day! Thank you in advance for your help.
