Mrs. Alexander from Washington DC is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the quality distance learning experience they deserve, void of poor technology.

The students in my classroom come from low income homes. Over 95% of my students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. In addition to the many challenges that plague my students every day, my students are now faced with having to learn from a distance due to COVID-19. Even though they are faced with daily challenges within their homes and their communities, the students show so much resilience, they log into class every day and are eager to excel. They show great perseverance daily and enjoy using the technology platforms that have been introduced during this pandemic.
Distance learning is already a challenge. Now, it's a disaster! The computer I was using STOPPED WORKING! I'm using a donated computer that doesn't have a working microphone, an operating system needed for today's online platforms/programs, and is the culprit of many canceled class sessions. A new computer would end this nightmare. My students deserve so much better. I would be able to facilitate exciting distance learning classes where I my students can count on me being there EACH AND EVERY DAY. I would be able to connect with them on Zoom, Nearpod, and TEAMS. I would be able to allow MaKenzie, my second grader, to share the songs she's written and Alexander to share his drawings during the Zoom concerts I host. I can also continue to host the weekly Parent-Teacher Munch and Chat Zoom meetings, and so much more. Having the right technology would allow me to be there for my students, my babies, the way they need me right now.
