Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is all about building strong social and academic foundations. Kids come from many different backgrounds and types of experience. We all work together to grow enthusiastic learners with strong social skills.
Kindergartners love hands-on, creative activities where they can collaborate and learn from each other.
The natural range in kindergarten is very wide. Some students need support, while others need enrichment. We are a Title 1, OMA Gold (Opening Minds through the Arts), GATE cluster school with many students on free or reduced lunch.
My Project
The magnetic letters and unifix cubes will give my kindergartners hands-on opportunities to build words in both tactile and visual ways. The students can read the letter, say the sound, move it to the board, and then write it with a dry erase marker. This multi-sensory approach will reach more learners and aid in retention.
Using the magnetic and unifix cube letters will give my kindergartners control of their learning and opportunities for both independent and collaborative practice.
These resources will impact all students by keeping them actively engaged and having fun while learning. Thank you for helping us learn to read and to love doing it!
