Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a student, have you ever wondered, "Why am I learning this?"
To better ensure that my students develop a love for learning and understanding of how topics relate to real world issues, I plan for my scholars to make real world connections to classroom content through learning by doing.
My students come from low-income, urban communities of diverse racial and ethic backgrounds.
Many of them qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. A large percentage of my students are English language learners and read at varying grade levels. Many of my students are not accustomed to so much learning based in projects and the learning by doing approach. I am committed to providing these students with a more positive, hands-on learning experience.
My Project
Learning by doing engages students in creatively and critically analyzing and exploring real-world challenges. The approach also allows students to get a deeper understanding of classroom content. This will require a lot of materials and supplies for hands-on, integrated learning and classroom projects/student-made artifacts.
To put my classroom in the right direction towards creating this rich educational experience I need YOUR help! As a 1st year teacher my classroom is virtually bare and my resources to ensure the academic development and success, that I know my students are fully capable of achieving, are extremely limited. To create this warm learning environment that also leverages the benefits in learning by doing, I'm asking for start-up materials such as: craft sticks, paint/paint brushes, markers, paper, glue and colored pencils. These resources will help my students begin to creatively learn through hands-on experiences and to explore different platforms of expression.
I am committed to providing my students with the resources necessary to enhance their learning as well as to empower them through education.
Your donations will help provide my students with a more positive, engaging and hands-on learning experience. Thank you in advance for you time and your generous donations!
