Mrs. Calland-Jones from East Point GA is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need to pay for National Board Certification in Exceptional Needs: Gifted and Talented in order to take my instruction to the highest level for my students.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Clever Kindergarten through 5th grade students come to my TAG (Talented & Gifted) classroom one day per week to receive Gifted services. My students represent various cultural backgrounds, ages, stages of development, aptitudes, and interests. Some of my students have high test scores, some are extremely creative, some show excellent motivation, while some students possess innate abilities to acquire skills & knowledge. One of the best characteristics of my learners is their unique qualities that require specialized instruction. The common thread that connects them all is their LOVE of learning!
I'm a firm believer that giftedness exists across all cultures and socioeconomic levels and, like a flower, must be cultivated with individual care in order for a child's talents to grow and bloom to their full potential.
This growth is the result of providing optimal needs and an environment in which children flourish.
My students will be able to make a positive impact in our world if I'm able to give them the tools, opportunities, and freedom to do so. My job is to encourage my students to WONDER!
Funding of this project will allow me to pay for my National Board Certification process to achieve an Exceptional Needs Specialist certification in the specialty area of Gifted and Talented. My students deserve a teacher who will do whatever it takes to hone her craft beyond what other people would expect. The impact of the National Board Certification will not only impact my students this year, but in many years to come.
National Board certification would allow me to demonstrate my dedication to my students and my profession by improving my practice and showcasing my talent in the classroom to meet the needs of my diverse learners.
Achieving National Board Certification would enhance my professional development so students can flourish from a highly skilled teacher whose reflection, research and data implementation drives instructional strategies to improve student learning outcomes.
My students will benefit by learning new strategies that maximize each child's unique learning characteristics, interests, personal needs and capabilities. A key aspect of the National Board Certification process is reflecting on individual student learning needs which provides a foundation to enrich student learning and take my instruction to the highest level. I thank you in advance for your generous support!
