My students are creative, inventive, and imaginative. I believe they all have the potential to create the future and change the world, not tomorrow when they are older, but TODAY!
I believe the whole world can be their "construction kit" and my students, when given the chance, can be impactful change agents in their schools, homes, and communities.
My students want to be artists, engineers, designers, inventors, scientists, makers, and/or simply creative thinkers who can positively impact the world. When given an authentic challenge, they will thrive!
My Project
Students thrive when given authentic, inquiry-based projects where they are the drivers of their own learning. This project involves students using MakeyMakey Invention Kits to solve a self-identified/researched community, home, or school problem.
Students will use the engineering design process to identify, analyze, ideate, and prototype a solution(s) using MakeyMakey Invention Kits, cardboard, traditional art/crafting supplies, and ANYTHING else they can find, borrow, "junk-hunt", make, or design.
Students will use the Scratch programming language to make their hardware prototypes come alive. Through the use of computational thinking skills, combined with design and engineering skills, students will develop a deliverable solution(s) to their community clients.
I (and my school) have already supplied the basic tools my students need for this project. We are now in the phase where we need the technology (MakeyMakeys) to move the project forward.
