My students need a large screen so they can better see some presentations, videos, and hear audio, and that is why they need a digital projector and the USB accessory.
Students with low vision and/or light perception are able to see some things with a large screen; but, our classroom came with only a 13 inch TV!
The students in my class have come to our school for a reason.
They are at least legally blind, if not completely blind. However, there are many variations in between. Those include some that have light perception where they can see figures of light and dark. Others have low vision where they can see some things if they are big enough or the student gets close enough.
Unfortunately some are totally blind and depend on their other senses, such as hearing and touch to communicate with their world. The students in my class also have other disabilities, including Autism.
My Project
Having access to pictures, videos, and sound affects greatly helps students with Autism focus in their sensory needs. The experience of using a projector to make large screen items will help those students with low vision and light perception be able to see what is being displayed. The students who are totally blind will benefit from the built-in speaker of the projector to hear what the others are seeing.
I would love to be able to display a picture of something we are working on, such as a shape or object, and get it large enough for even one of my students to be able to see it!
The impact of this one piece of equipment is so huge that students' lives can really be changed.
When learning can be done visually rather than strictly auditorily, the gains and new information can make gigantic and magnificent differences in the lives of my students. Please consider donating to our class and make the world a bigger place for them to see.
