I work in an inclusive preschool classroom in a large urban school district where students with disabilities learn aside their typically developing peers. My classroom also serves many children who are learning English for the first time. Children come to school for a half-day program.
Early Childhood Education is so important.
Children come to learn social-emotional as well as academic pre-readiness skills. These skills are learned through play, singing, listening to stories, dancing, and other activities that are essential to early childhood development.
My Project
Currently, I have 38 silly, happy and engaging children in my classroom. My children love to take risks, learn about new things and explore the world.
At the end of the school year, I will be saying goodbye to 22 of them as they move on from preschool to Kindergarten.
I am hoping to give them all a new backpack at the end of the school year filled with activities to continue learning and curiosity over the summer. These backpacks contain calendars with an activity a day to complete and all the materials needed for each activity.
Please help me send them off to Kindergarten with a special surprise for summer use.
