There are so many things I love about my students. They are excited about learning, kind and have dreams for their future. Middle school years can be a really rough time especially when you are learning disabled and live in poverty. My students are respectful to me and I am proud to be their teacher. They are special in so many ways. I am so blessed to spend my days with such a great group of kids. Sometimes I feel like they teach me more about life than I can teach them in an academic lesson. Despite their learning disabilities, they show grit and perseverance.
My students struggle with reading. Most do not like to read because they do not have any confidence in themselves. I have many students that are at a beginning reader level and they are in the 8th grade. Having a wide range of books at their many different abilities will help make Reading Class and Language Arts Class a great place for them to learn and sharpen their skills.
I can imagine how wonderful the reading rotation will go in periods 3 and 4 when we have better books to choose from.
Help me level the playing field for these sweet students. Reading is the doorway to so many opportunities in life.
