Help me give my students the tools needed to electrify their orchestra! They have the instruments, now they just needed the accessories so we can continue to our study into the modern styles of music that they LOVE.
I teach a wonderful group of 6th, 7th and 8th graders who love making music and learning as much about all types of music as they can. These children come from all different walks of life and love playing everything from classical, to fiddling, and even pop and rock and roll!
I have made it my goal over the last few years to bring nothing but the best musical experiences into my classroom so that my students have the opportunity to make music the way it is meant to be made - with fun and creativity!
One way we have done this is via our orchEXTRA class that focuses on not only alternative styles but also bringing orchestral music to populations that are often unable to attend performances. We hope to expand this to our daily classes as well.
Music is styles and genres are changing and growing everyday. Let's make sure our students are ready for it and have them prepared to perform in ALL styles of music!
My Project
Our students love making music. Unfortunately, the music that they are most familiar with is not often taught in the orchestra classroom. It is our goal to change that by electrifying our orchestras! Many popular groups and popular pop-orchestras use electrified instruments in their releases and it would energize our students to be able to have an opportunity to work with one and produce concerts that thrill and entertain our audiences!
Students will learn how to imitate their favorite artists as they learn how electric instruments work, how to amplify themselves, and how to loop and record their playing and how effects pedals can alter their playing as well as create new and exciting sounds!
The students have access to some electric instruments as well as pickups to electrify the instruments they are currently using, but we do not have the necessary accessories available to make them work! We need 1/4 cables to plug everything in. The G1Xon Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal gives students tons of effects they can choose from, and is very easy to program. The KB 3 Keyboard Amp is very versatile as it can switch to different watt settings and works well with all pitch ranges from bass to violin. The Ditto Looper Guitar Effects Pedal records short passages played on an instrument and plays them back in a repeating loop. Loops can be mixed together to create complex rhythms and harmonies from layers of simpler parts.
Let's bring the 21st century into the Orchestra classroom and have our students working with technology and electrified instruments! We are asking the awesome supporters of classrooms here at DonorsChoose to help us in procure the equipment needed to make this goal a reality.
