I am starting my career in a rural part of Illinois in a first grade classroom. My school district is combined between two schools, so in our building we have two first grade classrooms, and in the other building there are two more. I have had the opportunity to meet some of my students through the summer school program, and they are sweet, kind, and loving individuals.
My goal is to give my students a positive school environment for them to grow to love learning as much as I love teaching.
I hope over our year together, we grow as one big happy classroom family.
My Project
These materials will help make a difference to my students, because it will give us a place to gather as a whole group. I am requesting a carpet from Lakeshore Learning because we do not have a place to meet together for calendar, read stories, or have classroom discussions. This is crucial for first grade, because it is important for them to move from their seats throughout the day. I am also requesting chairs from Lakeshore Learning to use as flexible seating options for my students, they will use this to pick places where they learn the best in our classroom. During the day, students will have the options to work throughout the classroom not a their table. This is where the comfy seats from Lakeshore Learning will come in handy. They will be used as an option for my students to sit on the floor in a comfortable way.
Both of these items will turn my classroom into a more inviting place for my students to learn.
