Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Making art and the act of creating is not only good for students' social emotional well being, but can help students problem solve and become better learners. Practicing artists will tell you that they rarely create great artwork without failing, revising, and experimenting with different techniques. An artist needs need to problem solve to create a product, sometimes an artist must start over. Learning how to fail and start again is essential to being an artist.

Developing a growth mindset is one of the best side effects of learning how to make art.

Students learn to fail, to erase, to try again in order to make something beautiful. I love exposing my students to media and materials they can access and create at home, but other times students need to see what is possible...

My Project

In visual art class, sculpture is an important component when learning how to create. Understanding space helps students observe and perceive the world differently. A 3D printer and a Mac laptop that can render files for students in a reasonable amount of time will help engage my students in both creating 3D sculptures, but will also build digital literacy skills and help prepare students for STEAM pathways that nurture the creative side of themselves.

An Industrial Design background and experience with creating things like CAD files, help students become better problem solvers, thinkers, and encourage a growth mindset.

Your donation will help my visual arts classes connect to other curricula and expose my students to unexpected ways of making art.
