This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have amazing creative students! I work in an urban district consisting of many low income immigrant families. The budget is tight and I do the best I can with the funding that I am given. I do not ask the families to send in any supplies for the kids because I know they can't afford it. I want my students to be able to freely express themselves through art and build their confidence. Art is a universal language that unites everyone!

My Project

My students need to boost their confidence through STEAM, broaden their horizons, and create something they are proud of! I want them to forget about the daily issues they face growing up in an inner city, and learn through art. The Sharpies will help define the students’ pencil drawings. The variety of beautiful colors in the colored pencil set with help them add a sense of depth and realism to their projects! I will be able to show them how to add highlights and shadows and teach them about color blending! Art is a visual language that knows no barriers!
