I teach full-time autistic support at Drums Elementary Middle School. My students are all very different from one another and have unique needs and require the use of different approaches and strategies for learning. I am looking to gain tools for the classroom that will help me to provide an environment that is hands-on, engaging, flexible, comfortable, and helps each student learn in a way that is individualized to their specific needs. These items will greatly improve direct and small group instruction in the classroom.
My Project
These materials will benefit my learners by providing them with different materials to practice skills and enhance their learning of new essential skills. They will get to interact with fun, colorful materials to keep them engaged and interested. Having these learning resources in the classroom will allow for more meaningful direct reading and math instruction and small group work. These materials will help build the students’ pre-reading and basic math skills needed to master their individualized academic goals to make meaningful progress within their individualized education programs. The ability to use these resources in a variety of ways will allow me to keep working on these essential skills fun!
