This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Earth Science is more interesting when you can make connections!
My students' ages range from 11-13. They are very eager to learn new and exciting things. My school is a Title 1 school and over 90% of my students receive free and reduced lunch. The kids love hands-on activities and use these as reinforcement for the difficult content. The school is a safe zone for many of the students.
My Project
My Science Lab looks nice; however, our school lacks the proper materials for a 6th grade Earth Science class. My goal is to teach about space in a hands-on way through educational games as well as through various informational texts related to planets.
With your support, my students will have an experience they would not have been able to have before. In order to prepare my students for high school, they must have exposure to engaging and rigorous lessons. This will also improve their background knowledge and test scores.
