Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of spunk and ready to touch, explore, and learn about everything around them. My students love to come to school everyday and have big dreams for their grown-up futures. I often hear from their parents that they ask to come to school on the weekend. They have a passion to learn and and grow.
These awesome kindergartners love action packed days of hands on centers and exploration, they love to read with friends, they love to dance and sing and most of all they love when visitors come into our room so they can tell them all about their learning.
90% of the students in my classroom receive free and reduced lunch. 73% of my students are non native English speakers. My students home languages are Spanish and Portuguese.
My Project
Our kindergarten class would love to have a sand and water table for many different science experiments and exploration. It will be used for science time, exploration time, math centers and literacy centers.
We want to learn about things that sink and float and WHY.
We want to find out about erosion. We want to learn about the ocean and waves. We can't wait to get out hands wet and sandy so we can ask tons of questions and maybe even find the answers with the help of our friends.
Our kindergartners also want to have free exploration time to build and create as well as pretend play with our new friends. We love to dramatize stories during our 3 week long thematic units and we will be able to use the sand and water tables as well as the animals to retell stories with our friends.
