My Students

I teach approximately 200 students from a Title I school who come from various backgrounds, are very ethnically diverse, and span a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. We have a wide range of students at our school: students who have amazing and supportive families and the option to pursue academics and interests outside of school, students who don't see their parents because they are at work when they get home from school, students who are currently in the foster care system, and students who do not currently have a home and are living in hotels and shelters. Despite these challenges, all our students come to school eager to learn and develop their skills.

Our school is a public school with an emphasis on the performing arts.

We are trying to grow the performing and fine arts department and offer a variety of classes such as orchestra, band, choir, guitar, theater, crew, dance, tap dance, and a variety of art classes.

My Project

Many of my students can not afford their own instrument more or less the accessories needed to succeed as a musician. Your donation will provide my students with a class set of shoulder rests that they will be able to use everyday in class. Shoulder rests are commonly used by all violinists to help hold up their instrument to maintain proper instrument posture and to help alleviate any neck, shoulder or back pain associated with playing a violin. Holding a violin without correct posture can put unwanted stress on a violinists neck and shoulder which could lead to serious back issues.

You donation to this project will help my violin students to hold their instrument correctly so they can model perfect posture and be the best violinist that they can be!
