This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Help my students connect to literature–and the world–by bringing videos, pictures, sound, and the Internet directly to them! Our tech room was burglarized last June, leaving our school in a major hole. I've found an old laptop that can be used, but we still desperately need a projector. Please help!
I teach 10th and 11th graders in a high-needs school in New York.
The kids are bright and often brilliant, but reading levels can be as low as 3rd grade. They love engaging, multimedia lessons that use video clips, music, and anything else that can help them dynamically connect to literature!
My Project
Imagine watching an interview with an author, seeing a film adaptation of a classic book, watching a teacher model writing skills in real time, or quickly pulling up a map using Google Earth. An LCD projector can do all this and more, bringing an engaging and useful technology to the classroom every day.
Our small school has very few technology resources -- and losing our laptop cart last June was an enormous blow.
Please help give our kids just a small part of what they need...and deserve!
