This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

How can we keep our students engaged in their learning? Try enhancing it with technology! In a school with very limited technology, a document camera will amaze students! Kindergarteners need modeling, and what better tool to do this with than a document camera?

Our school district is urban and very close to a major city in Ohio.

Poverty is high among students and most are on free or reduced breakfast/lunch. We have very limited technology at our school and the children do not get exposed to much technology at home either due to financial reasons. Despite their disadvantages, these children come together to make a lovely learning environment!

My Project

Many things can be done with a document camera. For example, handwriting comes to mind. Handwriting is a difficult task for kindergarteners. Being able to put a handwriting worksheet under the document camera and projecting it on the screen will help students to follow along with me as a write the letters. I can model exactly how it is done!

These students truly deserve to have something special in their class.

They are such a respectful bunch that would never complain about not having technology, but I know that having the technology will enhance their learning experiences in so many ways. We would be ever so grateful!
