Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ninety percent of our amazing students live below or near the poverty line. About 60% of our students are learning English in school. Sometimes our school struggles to get the resources we need to teach and care for our incredible students. This makes the job of a school even more important.
Many students we teach experience poverty, but that's just where they are starting.
Our students love to create art and read. They write computer code and even perform Shakespeare. They have big dreams, let's help them reach for those dreams!
My Project
Even with all the uncertainty in the world today, students need fun and challenging books to get them excited about reading every day. Your generosity will put these books into the hands of our students. These books are the most demanded books by my students.
My students love to read, but some don't have enough books; let's fix that!
Currently, our school is closed. My plan with these books is to make home libraries for each of my students. I will take the books, bundle them up in individual boxes, and distribute them to my students... BOOM! Instant mini-library. Your gift will inspire students to read, learn, and explore the world! Plus, you'll be sending my class a gift card to download online reading resources.
