Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a small rural school located in Louisiana. We currently have 563 students. The school consists of 70.7% African Americans, 25.9% white students, 2.6% Latino, and .7% Hispanic. Our students come from very economically disadvantaged families who struggle to provide basic needs for their children. My school serves students in Grades 2-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment for all students. My school is a Leader in Me School and a STEM school.

My Project

Staying hydrated is an important part of the thinking process! Students carry their recyclable drinking cups, now they just need constant access to clean water to keep them alert, thinking and working with a purpose! Students often come into class asking if we have bottled water.They want to stay hydrated and avoid sodas! Having a water cooler for them meets this requirement and helps them stay healthy and learning. Having a water dispenser in my class would allow my students to always remain hydrated especially after a hot, sunny day after recess. Please help my students stay hydrated and ready for learning.
