My students need things that will satisfy their sensory needs. Fidget items such as stress balls, finger fidgets, string fidgets, small chain fidgets, and a trampoline will help busy hands and bodies stay focused.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with special needs students in a LINC class who need multiple exposures to materials for maximum benefit. I have eleven students who are first grade through fifth grade. They are all learning in the same self contained classroom.
Many students vary in abilities due to cognitive, behavioral,
communcation, physical, social, and emotional challenges. Each child has a specific set of learning goals in each subject area tailored to his ability level in his IEP.
Many of my students struggle with maintaining focus and attention. They often need breaks during the day and reminders about behaviors. Those reminders come in the form of visuals and/or tangible items.
My Project
We will use your donation items to help with our behavior and focus in the classroom. The fidget items will be used in our calming corner when children need to take a short break from learning. The stretchy string, stress balls, hand fidgets, nesh and marble finger fidgets, grape squeeze, and bike chain fidget will be used in the calming corner when students need an item to manipulate after calming their behavior. I am also asking for a trampoline to help with burning off excess energy in the classroom.
Our theme on our campus next year focuses on Reading Under the Sea.
I chose items for behavior management that were related to the theme. Their name plates, their behavior cards, and their sticker incentives. I also asked for a boook entitled The Five Point Scale.
