Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a special day class full of amazing 3rd, 4th and 5th graders with various disabilities such as learning disabilities, autism and ADHD. My students struggle with the process of learning to read, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t love a good story and want to be exposed to amazing grade-level and age appropriate novels, just like all the general education classes in our school that are at their same grade level.

Help me buy grade level, fun and engaging classroom sets of novels that will spark the love of storytelling and reading in some special learners.

As a whole class we will read the books as read-alouds and have the students engage with the stories. We can increase our comprehension, get interested in learning to read, and have exciting classroom discussions. Then we can brag to our friends about the cool books we are reading in our class.
