This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have gone from having 20 students to 31. I have a carpet for 20, but now need one for 31. We do calender, read mini books, and do most of my teaching with the kids close by on the carpet. I really need another carpet and construction paper.

I teach at a K-6 grade elementary.

The school is located in an inner-city neighborhood. We are a title 1 school where all children receive free breakfast and lunch. 3/4 of the children are bilingual. Many of my students parents also attended the same school.

My Project

I am requesting a carpet on the floor for teaching and for management. The carpet has spaces for each child to sit in. We do so much on the floor so a carpet really helps. I also am requesting construction paper for the many art projects we do throughout the year to promote literacy.

Because I have one carpet for 20 students it will be difficult for the other 13 students sitting on the floor.

I can see arguments to way they don't get to sit on the colorful nice carpet.
