My students need a classroom that allows flexible seating to give them choice when deciding how they learn best. The handprint rug will be a great option for my students.
My students are a group of energetic individuals that strive to their best day in and day out while at school. My students crave any time they are able to collaborate with each other and move around the classroom. Many of my students come from backgrounds and families that are able to fully support them financially and emotionally, but there are some students whose family cannot. That is why I am here. I am there to be their shoulder to lean on and to support them through their daily endeavors at school while making new lessons fun and exciting.
My 7th-grade group this year has a total of 110 students all from different backgrounds.
My goal as their teacher is to create a safe and positive learning environment for all students to thrive. No two students learn in the exact same way and I want my classroom to reflect that with the materials that I provide for my students.
My Project
My project is based around flexible seating options. I am requesting a classroom rug, stools, bean bags, and chair bands. The chair bands will be beneficial so students can kick their feet on them to help them stay on task. These options will also help students choose what method will help them learn best.
Students will have the option to sit on the classroom rug, sit on yoga balls, or on the bean bags to complete classwork assignments and work collaboratively with their peers.
These materials will make a difference in the lives of my students and help students that have a lot of trouble staying focused for the entire class period.
