Help! I Can't Learn in that Hard Chair
My students need 3 Hokki stools which give them an alternative seat for learning.
Have you ever been sitting in a meeting and you just couldn't stop tapping your foot, bouncing your leg, clicking your pen, etc? My students are born with sensory processing disorder and/or attention deficit disorder. This makes it difficult for them to sit and learn in traditional, "hard," chairs.
Because of my students' diagnoses their bodies are in constant motion.
They adjust their bodies in multiple positions from legs under their bottom, to leaning up over their desk to try and find that "just right" position. The problem is that they never get there, and what's worse is that while trying to get into a comfortable position they are supposed to be focusing on new tasks.
My students have a desperate desire to learn, but because their bodies aren't able to be still and learn like you or me, in a normal chair found in most classrooms, they miss out on much of their instruction time. Hokki stools provide movement while staying seated. Students can gently rock and rotate which gives them the movement they are seeking while they are processing the instruction taking place.
Thank you in advance for donating to my project!
My students so want to learn like other children in their class. These stools will allow my students to sit in a classroom, getting the movement their bodies need, all while learning from the same instruction their peers are receiving.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
