My students need a hand held electric blower, algae and photosynthesis study kit, and a mini greenhouse to study the effect different liquids have on the growth of plants in our environment.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
How do we teach urban students about our environment? My inner city students are concerned with performing research in order to become better environmentalists.
My students are NYC students who are very interested in performing science research.
Unfortunately, because we are a NYC public school - we lack the resources needed for a good science research department. Most of my students would like to go to college to study one of the major sciences. However, they are lacking in the knowledge and skills that most high school students their age have gained in their high school studies. My students are willing and motivated, but lack the funds to perform their research.
My Project
My students need a hand held electric blower, algae and photosynthesis study kit, and mini greenhouse to study the effect different liquids have on the growth of plants in our environment. For this study, my students will be analyzing the effects of different types of liquids on the growth rate of plants. They will learn about different types of liquids and why/how they can be used in the environment in order to promote a healthy environment. My students are looking to study environmental science in college, and would like to perform studies before they enter college.
My students are hoping to gain knowledge to help in further studies in environmental science.
They are environmentally cautious and are very interested in helping their community with better ways to improve their environment.
