Help Give My Students a Voice!

Help me give my students an opportunity to communicate via Alternative Communication Devices. This iPad will give my students a voice as well as another way to learn.

My Students

I am an early childhood special education teacher and I teach in an inclusive preschool classroom. With this model, my students are fully included into the general education classroom and curriculum. While this is extremely beneficial and crucial to my students' learning, it can also present some challenges for them. Many of them are non-verbal and rely on alternative communication methods to get their wants and needs met.

My students are resilient, imaginative, determined and enjoy learning, even if it looks different than it does for their classmates.

When they learn a new skill, they immediately light up and you can see their excitement!

My Project

I will use this iPad to download various communication applications to help my students communicate with myself and their peers. There are several different communication applications I can download and use with my students immediately. When students can communicate, it helps reduce behaviors and allows them to participate much more in the classroom. I can also use this as alternative ways to teach my students concepts and lessons and help provide them with hands on opportunities, right in the general education classroom. This iPad will also be used to help model different skills for students and provide pictures and videos that can be sent home for parents to see.
