My students need new supplies for 2nd grade. We need white boards for work, along with clipboards, pencils, dry erase markers, and other supplies for the classroom.
Our students live in an urban area that is very diverse. The majority of the students are from an extremely low socioeconomic background. The students range from high performing to extremely far behind their grade level. Lastly, we are now part of a program that invites refugees to our school and are part of our diverse family of students. I want my class to have all of the experiences that every child deserves. Most of the students in our class have no concept of life outside our city. Most of the students have not left the city. A large amount of students come to school without supplies, full stomachs, or a stable home environment. With this being said, the students are eager to learn and eager to make their lives meaningful. They see, with encouragement, that they can be what they choose. With hard work and a good attitude, these kids can be successful, if given the opportunity.
I am from a Title 1 school that receives free lunch for the entire student body.
My Project
Our 2nd graders need school supplies. At our school, we do not have a lot of parents who bring in supplies and it is left to the teacher to provide for all of the children. My students would love to have dry erase boards to work on. They can easily participate and be eco-friendly without the waste of paper. Clipboards would be a great addition as well for the students because they can be more flexible and sit in different areas of the classroom without the worry of how will they write without poking a whole in their paper. They also need pencils and a pencil sharpener. Erasers are a plus for students because they are always gone before you know it.
Students would love dry erase boards and clipboards for their work.
The other supplies would be helpful and beneficial for any projects we do throughout the year.
