Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are on the cutting edge of creativity. They are ambitious, innovative, and passionate about learning. We are one of the few elementary schools that students are able to be a part of a News Production Crew. They reside in a community that is a largely underprivileged, but are inventive with the limited resources that are available to them. They continue to be positive despite their current circumstances.
Many of our students are an integral piece of our school's legacy.
They are children of former students and some grandchildren of former students.
My Project
We currently have a well established school news production crew that creates news segments, commercials, and positive messages for our school community. The video segments are broadcast on our school's news channel. They work with outdated and limited equipment.
An updated camera would give students an opportunity to create state of the art content that will help teach them how to use 21st century skills in the school environment.
These skills can then be applied in their everyday lives. Having updated equipment will given students the opportunity to be relevant in our ever changing world. It's critical to provide our students with the tools that will empower them to be successful.
