Help me give my students the materials they need to succeed! We are an off-site Autism classroom in need of sensory friendly furniture and materials to support their educational and social needs.
I teach 4th grade for the Delaware Autism Program. We are off-site at a general Elementary School. All of my students have Autism and therefore have sensory processing difficulties. Some of my students require sensory input to help regulate their attention and nervous system.
My students have benefited from alternative seating in the past and we would love to have our own seating in order to give them the sensory input needed as often as possible.
We are in need of a small portable option that we can take with us to the general education setting when they integrate. When my students receive the sensory input that they need the are able to be less anxious, remain seated longer, and increase focus. This wiggle stool will offer them an outlet that allows them to move around without distracting their peers.
My Project
The materials that I am asking for will help enhance the learning of my 5th grade students with Autism. I am asking for materials and flexible seating for my students. These materials will help my students with their social and emotional needs, functional and academic learning, as well as furniture to help them with their sensory processing needs. The portable flexible seating option will help my students in the general education setting as well as in our classroom. We will be able to bring the seat with us when we integrate in the Gen Ed setting. My students struggle with their social skills as well. I am asking for a real-world social and emotional skills curriculum that will help my students strengthen their deficits.
