I teach five English classes and one advisory class. All of my students are unique in their own way. A good amount of them play different sports or are a part of some kind of club, such as soccer, volleyball, football, science club, dance, creative writing club, and a lot of others.
My students are creative, fun, and spontaneous.
We annotate interesting texts, write journal entries, read excerpts and novels, and write essays. We try to apply our learning to our personal lives and make connections with the world.
A goal for myself as a teacher is to let them know that they're important. Some of my students have been going to school with each other since kindergarten. Tradition and culture make a big part of who they are. Most of them are of Pacific Islander descent whose families have been around generation after generation, while some are just moving here and sharing their cultures with us. Every day we try to learn something new.
My Project
I've added books into this project that will support my students' curriculum goals. These books align with each unit of their SpringBoard books. All books are intermediate/grade appropriate. I picked books from the reading list that will help enlighten their learning.
I want to support my students who love to read, and help the ones who struggle with reading, to love it.
These books will bring excitement to our classroom. Our third shelf is empty and these books will fill it. I want to make our units more exciting by giving the students different options for novels. Thank you for reading up on our project.
