Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attention has been captured by the books introduced to them and they need more books. They are completely hooked on the books and are constantly asking about further titles.
My students attend and live in a high crime, impoverished neighborhood.
The crime in their neighborhood prevents them from having access to the local public library. The school they attend is being affected by severe cut backs in the budget. Bookstore are not even available in their neighborhood most need to travel between 10 to 20 miles to reach a bookstore. All of my students have been captivated by the books I have introduced to our classroom library. Students that have been struggling with their reading are actually enjoying reading and my English Learners are reading in English. I have noticed how much they have come to enjoy reading. Unfortunately I can not afford to expand my library on my own I need help.
My Project
With your help I will be able to expand our classroom library and continue to provide my wonderful eager students with the books they crave so much. All the books will be available for check out in my classroom. Having these books available for my students will allow them to improve their reading skills. As they reading skills improve their academic reading will easily develop.

They were so shocked and thankful that I had the books I had available for them. I had some books funded already and a donor suggested I add more books. I know my students will be thankful and appreciative of the books on this wish list. I love to provide as much as I can for my students so they won't risk their safety trying to reach a library or a bookstore far away.
