Help Exceptional Children Write Exceptional Stories
Help me give my students engaging, fun, and multi-sensory ways to access literacy! These resources will help me create an awesome writing station where students can work on letter formation, sentence structure, sight word practice, and more!
My students are a rambunctious group of Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students with special needs. Each one of my students receives specialized instruction in order to help them succeed in their education. My students LOVE to stay busy and move! They enjoy learning through exploration and are always thinking of interesting questions to research. My students have special needs ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder and Specific Learning Disabilities to Developmental Delays. Each student in my classroom has many strengths that help them overcome their disabilities and access the general curriculum.
Writing, especially for a student with special needs, is exceptionally difficult. Students with special needs often have trouble with sight words, spelling, self-generating sentences, and then getting those sentences on to the paper. The materials I have listed include a whiteboard/book for practicing letter formation, buildable letters to help with letter recognition, and other materials to create a writing station that my students can use.
With these materials, my students will be able to practice necessary skills that will help them achieve their individual writing goals while accommodating their needs and helping them get hands on with their writing.
These materials will help my students close the gap between their learning and the learning of other students. With these few materials, my students will be more engaged and have a more interactive and interesting learning and writing experience. These materials will make a giant impact on my students and will help propel them into becoming better writers and hopefully will close the gap between them and their nondisabled peers. Thank you so much for reading about my project.
