This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help provide an easy way for all students to see what they are supposed to do for every part of the lesson. No more guessing on where to find the proof in their passage, how to write a better ending, where to find the editing mistakes, and displaying their work for everyone to admire.

My two classes of second graders here deep in the heart of Texas have about twenty-two students each.

My ESL classes are quite varied in its reading and writing skills--from very low (pre-primer) to over an entire grade level above. I have three different home languages spoken--Vietnamese, Spanish, Urdu as well as English. Most of the students are on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program in my class as well as in our Title I school.

My Project

The document camera provides all of the class the ability to see exactly what is going on in each part of the day's lesson. Everyone can easily see what they need to do, how they are supposed to do it, and what it should look like as they are working. It clears up misunderstandings from poor language skills since everyone can easily see what is needed. The document camera also is a great tool to display each student's work to the class!

Building confidence and independence is the goal of every teacher and this tool helps this goal to be achieved.

Students will build their independence by no longer asking their neighbors how to do something or waiting to continue their work until the teacher comes to check on their work--they can easily look up on the screen to check as they go.
