Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from low-income pathways school. The students have all struggled to succeed at school in the past and are here for the smaller class sizes. Most of my students are from low-income families from diverse backgrounds. Students are turning around and striving to be the best they can be. The students are great kids they have just struggled in past experiences.
Students are striving towards real-life connections to the curriculum they are being asked to achieve.
By providing an alternative pathway they will graduate college and career ready.
My Project
I am switching curriculum to Argument driven inquiry and my school does not have the budget to provide dynamics tracks and wind power generator models for my students. I need them to have these supplies in order to provide them the education they deserve. I have funded most of the supplies needed to switch curriculum over however these items are just out of my personal budget. I look forward to being able to use these items for years to come. So these supplies will end up benefiting more than just my current students. Each item is needed for multiple labs and they will help engage my students on a deeper level.

Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to introduce students to the core idea of forces and motion, part of the disciplinary core idea (DCI) of Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions from the NGSS, by giving them the opportunity to explore the conservation of momentum during a collision.
