I am fortunate to have every sixth grade student at our school in my class, as I am the writing and grammar teacher.
With no school computer lab and only six computers in the classroom, it proves to be an arduous task. As a result, students are not being exposed to technology as much as they deserve to be.
My students are some of the most compassionate and hard working kids that I've ever met. They are always out to impress and make me proud! As a result, I constantly search for new learning, exposing them to everything I can! I love teaching, and feel beyond lucky to have found a career that plays such a pivotal role in the lives of so many.
Over 80% of the students at our school are eligible for free/reduced price lunch, while 50% of the population of students are English language learners.
My Project
Apple iPads will allow me to teach wirelessly. I will be able to move around the classroom while presenting my lesson to students. Students will be able to present their knowledge through the iPads from anywhere in the classroom. I plan on having my students use the iPads for group work and projects. 5th and 6th grade students need to know how to research, use multimedia, and present their findings. The Apple iPads will allow them to do this. I also plan on having students use the iPads to create PowerPoints and conduct research on STEM related projects. Students will also use the iPads for word processing, thus enhancing their typing skills. Students are currently working on argumentative writing assignments and would greatly benefit from using iPads to conduct research. By having Apple iPads in my classroom, I will be preparing my students for the world around them! Thank you for helping my students be successful learners!
My students will be able to work in groups with the iPads whereby writing, reading, researching and so much more.
They will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts. Without consistent access to technology, my students are not able to access 21st century skills and will not be able to compete with other students who have access to such technology on a daily basis.
