My Students

This school year will be my 2nd year teaching 1st grade. I am incredibly grateful to be teaching for the CCUSD where we have many excellent programs to enrich our students' learning. But, I do not have nearly enough books and reading materials to complete my reader's workshop. I need essential items in order to ensure that All of my students succeed this year.

Research has proven time and again that when children are given ample variety of books and a comfortable environment in which to read, their reading comprehension skills greatly improve.

First grade is a pivotal year for language acquisition and I want to do my best to instill not only a strong ability to read, but a love for it!

Thank you for viewing my project.

My Project

With these new reading materials, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their level and develop a true love of reading. Specifically, the books I chose will reach them through different genres and writing styles. In my project, I chose the Scholastic News Magazines because it is an excellent introduction to news periodicals and is a great source for current events. The subscriptions supply each child with a printed copy and digital access to news resources and games By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. I added a few flexible seating choices, such as balance balls and stools, to my wish list because I have seen many, many times that when children are given a choice in their learning environment, the are more invested emotionally which equates to better learning. It is truly is amazing to see!
