Wouldn't you love to go back and hear what you sounded like when you were in elementary school? My students love to sing and play instruments but we have no way of recording their experiences on stage or in the classroom.
My school is in an urban city district with over 90% having free or reduced lunches.
We serve over 400 students from Pre-school through 5th grade and all of them would benefit regularly throughout the year from this project. These kids never ask for anything and have shown themselves to be grateful for the little we do have as well as for the generosity shown to them when a gift does arrive.
My Project
I would like to give these students a lasting memory of some very special moments during their elementary school years. Like singing on stage in the school musical, or recording a song they wrote with a few friends for a favorite teacher. Maybe it was when we sang a special song in class that really touched their heart. Having that on a CD would be awesome to listen to years down the road. By creating a small recording "studio" in my classroom, I can capture impromptu moments as well as formal stage presentations easily. The recording device I am requesting is high quality and versatile to do everything I need to make this happen. My students will gain a unique understanding of the recording process as well as having a special memory recorded forever. Some students could even be trained to operate the equipment.
This project will be a source of inspiration at our school.
I am confident it will inspire my students not only to a higher level of performance but give them an opportunity to experience music class in a new way. This is a terrific opportunity for my students to learn new skills, use technology in the classroom and foster within them a deeper appreciation for how music is made.
